Big Horn River Trout Fishing

Big Horn River Trout Fishing

The upper river has cleared up considerably and the nymph fishing was very consistent yesterday.  From soap creek down(about river mile 10) the river is very muddy.  We received a bump in flows yesterday of 500 cfs bringing the flows up to 6510 cfs.  The dry fly yesterday was decent during the day and really came alive right  before dark.  The fishing was not always easy with the fish slashing and not staying in one place as they keyed in on skittering midges and midge clusters.

On the closure of Afterbay dam next week, not to much new to report.  There has been tremendous pressure now from Montana’s U.S. Senators and the Bighorn fishing community to have this project halted all together or re scheduled.  As of this moment all the plans are still a go for the closure, but we are optimistic the plans to start construction will be aborted soon.
