We have been anxiously awaiting the arrival of the release of the Bozeman Rod Company’s new graphite series, the “Gallatin”. Our first 4 weight rod showed up at the shop a few weeks back and we are already looking for more reasons to get out and fish this rod.
If you are familiar with the line up of Bozeman Reel Company’s products, you know they don’t skimp on quality. This small company based out of Bozeman has been getting some great press lately and for good reason. Recently they brought on a partner who has extensive experience in the custom rod building world to produce a one of a kind custom Montana built rod. With close attention to detail and a competitive edge on rod design, these guys are getting it done.
The Gallatin series is built by hand in Bozeman, MT. They feature a rich olive colored blank with silver and red accent thread wraps. Accompanied by nickel silver and cocobolo reel seats, these rods look flat out awesome. The action of this rod is fairly fast, resulting in superb accuracy, yet does retain some tip softness for loading up close range casts. The best casting line on this rod so far has been the Airflo Elite, as it loaded the rod well, but didn’t overload the rod. Retail pricing on these rods comes in at $600.00, and featuring a full original owner lifetime warranty, there is a lot of bang for your buck.
We will bringing in several more models once they are heavier in inventory. Remember, this is a small custom company with one main builder who does not sacrifice quality for quantity, so wait time is a little longer to receive your rod.
Stop on in the shop to give these rods a cast and appreciate the custom craftsmanship this company has to offer.
