Bighorn Fishing Report

It's all about the worm

The flow is up to 15k cfs now so yes, the water is high, but the fish are so gorged with worms and sow bugs that most are coughing up worm balls in the net. Lots of fish have put in about a half pound in just the past few days.

Sow bugs are working well in the upper river in grey and tan. Two-tone, brown, red and burgundy worms are all catching fish. The two-tone seems to work better upstream and the darker colors are doing better downstream.

The increase in flows have brought an increase in water temperature. This has triggered one of the caddis hatches. While there isn’t much opportunity for wade fishing to risers, fish have already started taking the pupa and a tan caddis out of the boat might work in the right spots.
