Trout Stomach Sample From May 4th
Another cold and blustery few days on the Bighorn. Nymphing with midges in the morning, especially cream has been very productive. Once the birds began working the water in the afternoon switch to baetis imitations both underneath and on the surface if the opportunity presents itself. The Blue Winged Olive nymphs on the Bighorn are very dark, black in color. Your best imitations are wondernymphs, Black Quills and Killer mayflys.
