It’s not like the streamer fishing has been bad, but the season finally turned the corner this week. The weather changed from mild fall to all-out winter. Cooler temps and heavy clouds really turned on the streamer bite yesterday. With so many 1 to 2 year old fish in the river and all of the 3 and 4 year old fish looking for a substantial meal and browns getting closer to their spawn, it was one of those days where nearly every cast at times turned a fish.
Pseudos had the fish up in spots throughout the day and a tan killer bug produced a number of fish nymphing.
With the streamers, don’t spend a lot of time pounding the banks with calm water. Work the areas and structure with current. Fish still want to see streamers moving fairly quickly although slowing down from time to time can get some solid commitments.
