*Update – The BOR has stated Bighorn River flows to start increasing Friday June 1, – 1000 CFS/day, until flows reach 11,000 CFS, which should be mid next week. We knew these low hold back flows were too good to be true, but the sooner we get the extra water out of the system, the better. The good news is that the Bighorn still fishes great at these flows, although wade fishing will become almost non existent.
We are seeing piles of Shiner minnows in the Afterbay, so the best news with these increasing flows will be another flush of minnows through the river. Be ready with small white and grey themed streamers from now until flows reach 11k.
The nymphing should continue to be pretty hot as water temps will warm and fish will be up in the fast, shallow runs. Sowbugs have dominated this past week, and our worm bite should be happening any day. Make sure you have the following bugs: Carpet Bugs, SH Ray Charles (tan, pink 14-16), Firebead Softhackles (tan, pink) Pink Crush, anything with a pink bead on it..
As a result of increasing flows, we will be cutting off all boat rentals starting this next week. Please be careful out there and help others out at the ramps!
