Montana has been seeing quite a bit of cool weather this September and quite a bit of moisture. With the weather cooling the grass in the river has begun to break up. The river has begun to show some color as the grass breaks up. Along with all of the other hatches this summer the trico hatch has been quite intense. A high density of bugs has had the fish keyed in on this emergence. As usual the spinner fall will be the most productive part of the bugs life cycle. Pseudos are also present in good numbers. Underneath small black bugs along with p tails and the worm are taking fish.
