Bighorn River Fishing Update June 18
Cold and low flows are still the name of the game on the Bighorn. It looks like we’ll be sitting at the 1750 CFS mark for quite some time. The good news is our river is staying clear and water temps in the mid 40’s. Still a fair amount of moss below 3 Mile, so keep your bugs clean! Read more...
Bighorn Fishing Report June 8
We’ve got a little break in the action from the busy Spring crowds. Still a few folks around, but fishing has been up and down. It’s transition time on the Bighorn, which means fizzling out Spring hatches, rainbows finishing up the spawn and getting ready for the awesome Summer ahead of us. Read more...
Bighorn River update June 2
Summer got here quick! Temps up in the mid 90’s this week should make things interesting… Despite the weather, the Bighorn remains cold, clear and low. We’re seeing a fair amount of drifting moss below 3 Mile, making for some tricky fishing down there, but if you keep your bugs clean, they’ll eat (that’s the theory at least). Read more...
Bighorn River Fishing Report – May 22
Well, it looks like our dismal snowpack has caught up to us. As of 4 PM yesterday, Bighorn River flows are down at 1980 CFS. Low incoming flows to Bighorn Lake and no snow are the root of this. I can safely say we will NOT have high water this season. Read more...
Bighorn River Fishing Update May 16
Bighorn River flows have settled in @ 2500 CFS the past few days. Fishing remains pretty solid overall. Plenty of big ones still filling the nets and smaller fish as well! We are finally seeing the rainbows in full on spawn mode, so please be mindful of these fish and let them do their thing. Read more...
Bighorn River Fishing Report May 9
It’s been a solid past few days on the Bighorn as fishing has stabilized and has been very consistent, especially for large fish. Our guides are bringing in good numbers of fish as well. Water temps are still a bit cooler but this is great news for the upcoming Summer. Read more...
Bighorn River Fishing Report May 5
The Bighorn has been very consistent lately. Consistent in the fact that the fishing is great one day, then tough the next. The good news is there have been more good days than tough ones. It’s been busy out there as everyone is looking to land some of the beastly fish coming out of the river. Read more...
Bighorn River Fishing Report April 27
Fishing is really starting to pick up on the Bighorn. Flows are up to 3200 CFS as of this morning and the river remains nice and clear. It’s getting a bit busier out there, but still plenty of good spots to get into fish.
The Spring Baetis are starting to make a big appearance and we’re seeing more and more fish on them daily. Read more...
Bighorn River Fishing Update April 16
Recent colder weather reminds us that Spring in Montana can be cruel. It also can result in great fishing, which is where things are headed. The Spring Baetis are slowly growing in numbers and along with prevalent Midge hatches, it’s getting closer to one of our favorite dry fly seasons of the year. Read more...
Bighorn River Report April 6
Spring is finally here on the Bighorn. It’s getting busier out there but the fishing has been very solid. A bit more dry fly activity and great nymph fishing overall.
The Spring BWO’s are lingering around but haven’t really kicked off yet. I’d say another 10-14 days, but who knows. We just need water temps to jump a couple more degrees to the mid 40’s during the heat of the day and more bugs to get the fish looking at them. Read more...
