The Pale Morning Dun hatch on the upper river continues to be incredible. While the upper end is now receiving much more pressure there have been plenty of rising fish to go around during the aftern0on. The baetis/pseudo hatch has been good river wide, same as the black caddis. I expect the black caddis to continue to build over the next few weeks. If all that isn’t enough the tan caddis hatch showed up a few days ago and has probably provided the best fishing of all down towards the Bighorn access.
One of our guides did a quick float down the upper 3 at sunrise this morning and spotted a few stray tricos on the water……It is only a matter of time before the trico madness shows itself as well. At this point we have no idea how long the PMD hatch will last, with the way this year is going anything is possible.
