The Bighorn River was dry fly shangra la today. Heavy emergences of Yellow Sallies, PMD’s and Black Caddis came off throughout the day. The hatches seemed to build as the day went on; depending on where you were the fish were keyed into one of the insects. Throw grasshopper and ant fishing on top of it and today made for some exceptional fishing for the dry fly angler.
Hatches: Sallies, pmds, black caddis, tan cadds, grasshoppers, terrestrials
Fly Patterns: Snowshoe PMD, quigley crip pmd, hemingway caddis, cdc caddis, larimers yellow sally, grand hopper, power ant
As local guide John Sindland puts it “church of the dry fly and clean living is the only way to go”
