The best fluorocarbon made

The Boat:  2011 Clackacraft 16′ LP – This is the best rowing, most reliable and most comfortable boat on the water.

Rods: I have two boat rods available for client use.  The first is an Orvis H2 9’ 6wt tip flex, a true get it done nymph rod. The second a Beulah Platinum 9’ 5wt, which is a great rod for both nymphing and dry fly fishing.  I have Orvis Access Mid Arbor reels on both.  These reels are downright tough, very inexpensive and highly reliable.

Tippet and Leaders: Trouthunter fluorocarbon tippet, I couldn’t guide without it.  Trouthunter 8ft nylon or Rio Trout leaders.

Must have accessories: Fishing guides carry a lot of accessories and I am no exception. MFC offee mug, hand towel, stomach pump, orvis hemostat, mfc trout skin nippers, orvis sun gloves, mfc redneck sun mask, sumo rod racks, gerber multi tool are some of my must haves.

Fly Organization: Orvis super slim fly boxes for my nymphs, C and F waterproof boxes for dries and an MFC boat box for streamers.

Nets:  I, like most Bighorn guides carry two nets, a longer one for netting fish out of the boat and a shorter one to carry with me when wade fishing.  I use a Nomad net when wade fishing because it is light and a classic wooden Merritt net out of the boat.

Photo Equipment: I take a lot of photos on the water of fish, wildlife, landscape and people. I use a canon d10 waterproof for underwater work. For everything else I use a Canon 7d camera body w/100 – 400 telephoto lens for wildlife and a sigma 17 -50 lens for landscape and close ups.  My pelican case is a must for protecting my equipment.

Clothing: Columbia makes great lightweight, breathable clothing with excellent sun protection for a great price. I have both Orvis silver sonic and pro guide waders. For footwear I wear the Orvis Henry’s Fork boot w/studs and the Simms wet wading shoe during the summer.

Hi Steve and Pete, I was looking forward to coming out and fishing with you outfit again this year but I tore my rotor cluf in my right shoulder that has side lined me until mid September. I have been on the big horn the last 6 years and I will be back next year hopefully with my son. Until than I wish you all good luck and good fishing.
