Bighorn River Fishing Report 6/14

We’re getting closer to prime Summer fishing, but still have a bit to go.  Many of the rainbows who make up the general fish population in the river are just wrapping up their spawn and returning to the main runs.  It’s been an impressive sight to see how many HUGE rainbows are in the system for this season.  The MOSS has been a bit up and down on the lower river.  Fishing has been great down there, but you gotta keep your bugs clean!

Our guides are having good success on Orange Scuds, Worms, Zebras, Red bead and OG Carpet Bugs, Tailwater Sows and various Baetis nymphs.

Water temps are still in the low to mid 40’s, which is great for later in the summer, so the hatch bugs are somewhat non existent at the moment.  We’re probably a few weeks away from seeing PMD’s and any consistent top water activity.
