Bighorn River Fishing Report 8/23

What a great summer it’s been on the ‘Horn!  Low, cold flows have provided us with tremendous hatches and the fish are in about as good of shape as we’ve seen in some time.  We’re nearing the end of Summer but the warm weather is sticking around.

The Tricos are starting to make an appearance below 3 Mile and as far down as you want to look.  We had a good window of Tan Caddis, but they appear to be thinning out.  Still a good number of Black Caddis around, but somedays the fish aren’t as dialed into them.  A few fish looking for hoppers as well!

Subsurface, you’ll want an assortment of Orange Scuds, Frenchies, PT’s, Worms, Nightmare Perdigons and a variety of flashy little jig patterns.  We’re still running fairly light weight and short rigs besides the first couple miles below Afterbay.

A few reports of some really good streamer fishing.  Goldies or Rusty Trombones will get the job done!
