Bighorn River Fishing Report 8/31

We’re nearing the end of Summer and the Bighorn continues to kick out some solid fishing.  Water temps are reaching into the low 60’s, so please be careful handling fish and keep them wet!

The Tricos are fairly thick most days and fish are on them, but not in huge numbers yet.  Some Caddis kicking around in the afternoons and fish looking for those as well.

Nymphing has been really good most days throughout the whole river.  Frenchies, PT’s, Carpet Bugs, Rays, Worms, Nightmare Jigs and a variety of perdigons are working. Short and light rigs as well as heavy and deep are both catching plenty of fish in the faster shelves and guts of runs.

A few folks are starting to throw streamers and it should just get better and better.  Make sure you have some Goldies, Rusty Trombones, Sparkle Minnows and Jig Thin Mints.
