Bighorn River Fishing Update 8/4

It’s finally happening out here!  Great hatches of PMD’s, Black Caddis and even a few Tan Caddis are going on right now.  If you like ‘techy’ dry fly fishing for big fish, this is the time to be here!  Early afternoon – Dark will have plenty of targets up to fish to.

If you’re looking to capitalize on numbers of fish, nymphing has been the best bet.  It’s not lights out good, but it’s good enough.  We’re finding a lot of fish up in the skinny water right now, which offers some great sight fishing opportunities as well as dry/dropper fishing.  Ray Charles, Carpet Bugs, Split Case PMD’s, Frenchies, PT’s and worms are prime candidates.

A few big fish are being caught on hoppers right now.  If you haven’t been in to the shop, we have some awesome new patterns that will fool the smartest brown trout out there!
