Bighorn River Fishing Update March 5th

Katie fished with me this past week and we saw a lot of these in the net!

If you can catch a good window of weather between wind and snow, it’s time to head to the Bighorn!   We were out a few days this past week and the river is in excellent shape and so are the fish.

Nymphing with anything PINK will do the trick right now.  Cotton Candy, Jellybean, SH Sowbugs are must haves.  A few fish on midge pupa and even saw some Baetis around, so don’t overlook those.

We’ve had some pretty good streamer fishing lately as well.  Olive, Black or Yellow seem to be the top picks.  Overall, the fish aren’t pattern picky.  It’s a matter of getting your bug in their zone and swimming it right!

Not much surface activity yet.  Maybe sooner than later though.  We saw water temps around 42 below 3 Mile the other day.

We’re in the shop right now most mornings till noon for flies, shuttles and fly shop stuff.
