Flying Or Driving?
If Flying, set your course to Billings International as this is the nearest Airport. The Bighorn Angler is about 1.5 hours drive. Just put The Bighorn Angler in maps on your phone and the robot can do the rest.
From the airport find your way to I-90 East and take that to Hardin Montana. Take the first Hardin exit, where you will see signs for Bighorn Canyon National Recreation Area and Yellowtail Dam. Turn right and head for about a half mile, stay to the right at the fork past the gas station and you will eventually come to a 4 way stop. Continue straight and over some tracks and you’re on your way. Just stay on highway 313, Fort Smith is about 40 miles from Hardin.
Driving from Sheridan?
Head on I-90 west for about 50 miles and get off at the lodge grass exit. Make a left off the ramp. Drive into town and take the first left after the railroad tracks in front of the market. Stay on this road as it goes through town for about 5 miles and you’ll come to Good Luck Road on the right. Turn right and stay on this road for 20 miles until it Ts with highway 313. Turn left headed to St. Xavier and its another 17 miles to Fort Smith
The Billings Airport is the closest airport to service visitors to the Bighorn River and has direct flights available from several US cities including Minneapolis, Denver, Salt Lake, Seattle, Phoenix, Las Vegas, and Los Angeles.
Billings airport has a large selection of reasonably priced rental cars from several different major car rental companies. Most customers rent a car at the airport and drive to the lodge.
Shuttle services are available and normally charge between $200-$250 each way to and from the Airport and lodge

Services are very limited in Fort Smith, there are no restaurants, and the small market is only lightly stocked. Gas is available at the Yellowtail Market. Most customers have their meals in our dining room, but if that is not your plan, you will need to get food in Billings or Hardin on your way in.
Also, because our town is within the confines of a tribal reservation alcohol sales are prohibited. You will need to pick up alcoholic beverages you wish to have during your stay in Billings or Hardin.
Our knowledgeable and friendly staff is here to assist you with every aspect of customizing and booking your trip. We can advise on lodging options, best times to come, transportation, what to bring and anything else important to you.
