Bighorn Fishing Report 11/2

Bighorn Lake has officially completed its annual turnover, and as a result, the river currently looks like pea soup with that classic, highly reduced visibility. While the water color is about as challenging as it gets, don’t write off your chances—we are still finding some great fishing for people willing to put in the time.

What’s Working

  • Nymphing: When the water colors up like this, scale down your technical small-bug patterns and lean hard into meatier offerings. Keep your boxes stocked with  Orange Scuds, Tailwater Sowbugs, and San Juan worms or similar heavy attractor worms to get down right in front of them.

  • Streamers: This is prime low-visibility streamer water. Tie on dark, articulated patterns or push-water streamers. The fish know the turnover brings a change in forage, and aggressive presentations will often trigger a reaction from some of the bigger fish.

Stop by the shop to grab your turnover flies and get geared up for some rewarding late-season fishing. We’ll see you on the water!
