Bighorn Labor Day Weekend Fishing Update

How’s the fishing?  Depends on who you ask!  I’d say it’s pretty darn good overall.  The Upper 3 is getting a bit grassy, but great conditions below.  Crowds are thinning and some cooler weather is ahead.

We’re seeing some good Trico activity most mornings.  If you’re on the water by 8:30 or so, you should have some targets to throw at.  The Caddis activity is waning a bit in the afternoons, but the fish are still looking for them.  Still seeing some BIG fish eating hoppers as well.

Frenchies seem to be the name of the game underneath.  Big, small they’re eating them all.  Any Pheasant Tail or Hare’s Ear variation patterns are working well too.  We’re seeing some very good nymphing and should get better with the cooler weather on tap.

Some folks are throwing streamers and getting some big fish right now.  You’ll have a bit of grass to contend with, but it’s worth it!
