Bighorn River Fishing Report 3/16

Spring is here and the fishing has been on fire!  Our Bighorn fish are waking up out of their winter slumber and seem to very hungry.  It’s still mostly a nymphing and streamer deal with the cooler water temps, but should see some fish looking up soon.

The good thing about this time of year is how opportunistic the fish are.  They are eating a wide variety of sowbugs, scud and midges subsurface.  The tough thing is finding them, but that hasn’t been a problem either…  Make sure you have Tailwater Sows, Cotton Candys, Carpet Bugs, Graveyard Midges, Zebras, Green Weenies, UV Scuds and Pink bead Rays.

Streamer fishing has been a bit off and on, but somedays you’ll find an area they will eat the crap out of them.  Stick to smaller leeches and bugger patterns.  A sink tip helps to keep it down in the deeper slots.
