Bighorn River Fishing Report 5/16
Flows are finally stabilized at 3000 cfs. We’re not sure if it’s going any higher at the moment, but we will keep you posted. Fishing has been a bit touchy during the last flow bumps. Some good moments and some not so good. When the fish settle into their new homes (next couple days), expect some really good fishing. We’re lucky this year to have a lot of big healthy fish in the system!
Nymphing is the main game right now. UV Yum Yums, Tailwater Sows, Carpet Bugs, Silver Bullets, Quills, and various perdigons are still producing results.
The dry fly game never really took off this Spring, but now we might see that change. The Baetis and Midges are around in good enough numbers to get fish looking up with the stabilizing water.
We’re in the shop everyday from 8 AM – 5 Pm for flies, shuttles and good advice!
