Bighorn River Fishing Report 5/4

Looks like flows are scheduled to drop to 5500 CFS by Monday afternoon.  From that point, we’ll see, but should keep on the drop. Fishing has been very very good lately with lots of happy anglers out there!

The Baetis are starting to show up and some days we’re finding fish up in the afternoons and evenings.  The dropping flows will make for even better fishing.

Sowbugs and Baetis nymphs rule for the nymph crowd.  Any pattern with a Firebead or Red bead in 14 or 16 is getting the job done.  In the afternoons drop on a Macgruber or Quill nymph when the Baetis are out.  The fish are more widespread in runs than they normally are, so don’t over look some of the shallows.

The rainbow spawn has just kicked off, so please be mindful and remain from wading the redds!
