Bighorn River Fishing Report 6/6
River flows have finally stabilized at 3000 cfs after dropping from the previous 3500 cfs levels. They should remain at this level for a while. There is still some drifting moss below 3 Mile, but appears to be a bit more settled with the reduction in flows.
Fishing has been somewhat spotty lately with some good windows mixed in. The recent flow changes have made conditions a bit touchy – we’ve seen some good moments and some not so good. As the fish settle into their new homes over the next couple of days, expect some really good fishing to develop. We’re lucky this year to have a lot of big healthy fish in the system!
Nymphing remains the main game right now. Worms, Orange Scuds, Tailwater Sows, Carpet Bugs, Silver Bullets, Quills, and various perdigons are still producing solid results.
Rainbows are at their peak spawn right now, so please let them do their thing! It’s quite impressive the numbers and size of fish we are seeing. We can’t wait till they return hungry to the river for the rest of the summer!
We’re in the shop every day from 7 AM – 7 PM for flies, shuttles and good advice!
