Bighorn River Fishing Report August 15
PMD madness continues on the Bighorn. If you want to see the Bighorn in its prime dry fly glory, this is the time. From about noon till dark, you will be able to find consistent heads up and plenty of bugs. We’re seeing a handful of Caddis, especially below 3 Mile. If you don’t like crowds, it’s not the best time to be here..
Nymphing has picked up substantially with the increase in PMD and overall bug numbers. Sowbugs throughout the day, switching to double PMD nymph rigs has been productive. The Split Case PMD is still our bug of choice, but there isn’t really anyway to go wrong right now. The fish are spread out really well right now, so you can find them just about everywhere.
A few fish on hoppers, but the fish have mainly turned their focus to the PMD’s and Caddis.
Be nice to each other out there and don’t crowd other anglers!
