Bighorn River Fishing Report June 12
Flows have stabilized at 4500 CFS and no word if it’s going any higher. Overall the fishing has been great. Still a bit of drifting debris below 3 Mile, but not enough to put off the fishing. The river clarity is phenomenal right now and temps are hanging around in that low to mid 40’s range.
Worms are the staple bug for going underneath. Scuds are a strong second with Sowbugs and Baetis nymphs as great options too. The best patterns overall have been: Wire Worms, Squirmys, Twisted Scuds, Flashback Orange Scuds, Red Bead Carpet bugs (tan – 14, 16), Various Perdigons, Zebras and Red Midge Larva.
Streamer fishing has picked up as predicted. Smaller articulated patterns like Mini Dungeons, Rusty Trombones and T&A’s are working well. As soon as the river temp warms up, it will be very solid!
