Bighorn River Fishing Report September 23, 2021

The Bighorn continues to impress us with how long it’s giving us good fishing this Summer/Fall.

Good numbers of Black Caddis and Tan Caddis along with Psuedos have fish looking up as long, as it’s not too windy.  The fish have not been pushovers and are well educated at this point in the season, but plenty of big ones are available.

The nymphing has been very good top to bottom pretty much everyday.  The morning hours are still slow, but from 11-3:30 or so, expect to have steady action in the right spots.  Still the PT/Frenchie deal with some Psuedo nymphs and Scuds/Sowbugs mixed in.

There is some grass in the river system, although better conditions than we normally see for this time of year.  We’re seeing a bit of green in the upper river, but we’re not sure how much of the ‘turnover green’ will affect us this season.  At this point, we’re expecting fishing to continue to be excellent into the Fall!
