Bighorn River Fishing Update 9/9

Alison Creer with a great Brown

Fishing remains good during the morning hours and a bit spotty later afternoon.  The BOR is doing repairs on gates at the main dam, so water temps have fluctuated the past couple days.  We should see them start to drop again at least by Monday.  This should help!

Tricos are still around providing some good fishing for big fish in the morning hours.  Psuedos are showing up after 2 PM, if you want to torture yourself, but, there are some really good fishing looking up.  The hopper window seems to be wrapped up for the season at the moment.

We’ve had some really good streamer fishing this past week.  Cloudy conditions certainly help, but the fish are very grabby!  Big Thin Mints, Pete’s buggers and Sparkle Minnows are working well.

Subsurface, Pheasant tail and Hare’s Ear variations are working well (Frenchies, CDC Jig PT’s, Walt’s Worm, FB Hare’s Ears). There seems to be a worm bite coming back as well on the lower river, so have those in your back pocket.
