Bighorn River Fishing Update December 6, 2021
We just had an arctic blast and looks like the weather will be with us for a bit. The good news is the river has cleaned up and is back to great clarity and some grass on its way out. The browns are in full spawn mode as well, so please be mindful of them!
From top to bottom the entire river is looking good! Nymphing with Orange Scuds, Carpet Bugs, Worms and various Zebra midge patterns will keep you hooked up. Water temps are in the low 50’s so fish are still fairly spread out.
This is one of our favorite streamer fishing times of the year. If you like swinging with the ol’ trout spey, this is the time to come. Small Thin Mints, Grinchs, Bighorn Buggers, Squirrel leeches and small buggers have been moving some fish. Dredging the troughs in the middle of the river with tips has been VERY productive.
We’re around the shop most days till noon or so for shuttles, flies, coffee, etc.. We will be closed for Christmas break around the 20th or so until the 27th as a heads up!
