Bighorn River Fishing Update February 12, 2022

If you enjoy solitude on the Bighorn River, now is the time to be here!  The weather is very unusual for this time of year.  Most days are in the 40’s and 50’s, but we’re not complaining! (Except for the wind..)

FYI, the Bighorn Angler Fly shop has limited its ‘off season’ hours to Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 8AM-noon or so.  If you need a shuttle, call 406-620-7275 if we’re out of the shop.

Nymphing has been good for some and tough for others.  The water is still very cold, so finding the fish is the trick.  Pink has been the color (Cotton Candy, Jellybeans, Carpet Bugs and SH Sows).  Concentrate on those slower runs in about 4-6′ of water and don’t leave if you’re getting eats!

A few folks getting some fish on streamers, but nothing too exciting. Expect these ‘Winter’ conditions to last and stay the same until late March or so.
