Bighorn River Fishing Update January 24, 2021

If you can brave the temps right now, it’s worth coming down!  The fishing this early winter has been excellent with a variety of fish from 12-24″  in the river and most importantly, they are willing to eat!

Our buddy Steve with a beast of a rainbow from the upper river on a Jellybean Sowbug.

Water temps are in that high 30’s zone, so all the standard winter spots are producing.  Nymphing has been great throughout the entire river and PINK is the color.  Cotton Candy, Jellybeans, and SH Sowbugs have been working well.  Midge Pupa are a good thing to have in your arsenal as well.  We have some cool new patterns coming in for the season and we’ll be sure to share those!

Streamers?  Yes.  A few people have been doing well on them.  Still the slow and deep method.  Little buggers, leeches, same as this Fall.

We’re excited for the upcoming season as our snowpack is still fairly low.  We should experience a water year similar to last year and we have plenty of big (20-24″) fish showing up to play as well!
