Bighorn River Fishing Update June 22

Private Ryan with a big one from yesterday

Bighorn Flows are up to 15ooo CFS at the moment from all the copious amounts of precipitation that has caught up with us since early Summer.  Fishing has been very very good in the softer spots as the fish have been really concentrated.  This is not a good time to learn how to row and unless you are an experienced oarsperson, we do not recommend floating the river.  All wade fishing spots have dissapeared as well.  We have no idea how long flows will be up in this range, but will probably be for a while..

The fish are absolutely GORGING on WORMS underneath and we are seeing some of the biggest fish of the year caught right now.  Several fish over 24″ have been reported by guides the past few days.  San Juans, Wire Worms and Squirmys with a ball of lead is suggested.

Streamer fishing has been excellent as long as you can keep your bugs in the softer pockets.  This is the time of year we like to fish the big articulated stuff.
