Bighorn River Fishing Update October 16, 2021

The Bighorn is a great place to be right now!  Great Fall foliage, hungry fish and the crowds are down (most days).  We’re starting to see a bit of the lake turnover after this past cold snap and the slight bump in river flow.  The fish don’t seem to mind though!

Still a few fish looking up for BIG Tan Caddis and Psuedos, even during the windy days.  We have some great weather ahead of us so expect this to continue on until the Fall BWO’s make their appearance.

Nymphing remains very productive.  Still the standard Summer fare (Frenchies, Hare’s Ears, PT’s, Perdigons, Carpet Bugs, Orange Scuds and Rays).  The water temp is still in the prime zone so the fish are up in the skinny water and pretty much spread out still.

The Streamer bite has been good with Thin Mints, Lil’ Kim’s, Jig Leeches, and about any Black or Olive Buggers.  Lots of little aggressive fish out there, so you’ll have to weed through them in some runs!
