Bighorn River Status April 7, 2020
Sorry, no fishing report as the Afterbay and 3 Mile Access points remain closed, as well as other NPS sites. There are still checkpoints on Highway 313, allowing only Big Horn county residents to travel. We’re looking at least through the 30th of April with these rules in place.
BUT, on a positive note, our water is on track for a near perfect season, flow wise. We’ll get through these regulations and limitations on the Bighorn and should be fishing soon!
Our buddies over at the Bighorn River Alliance sent out some info today and we thought we’d share it with you:
Bighorn Basin conditions are looking great for the Bighorn River this year. Improved operations, coupled with a relatively normal (thus far) water year has provided the river a much needed rest after years of high water. Currently, the reservoir is 27 feet below full pool and river flows are maintaining at 5250cfs. It is hard not being on the water, but we are working hard behind our computers and via web conferences to make sure the Bighorn is looked after until your return. Thank you to all of our supporters who are keeping us active through this time.
