Bighorn River Update August 24

Ok, so there’s definitely some BS with a lot of fishing reports (I try not to), but not right now.  The Bighorn has been fishing pretty insane.  The amount of fish and size of fish just amazes us right now, and it just keeps going!

Pheasant tail season here.  Just about any PT version right now will get you fish all day long.  Carpet Bugs, Rays, CDC Pheasant tails, Regular PTs (14-16), and just about any Caddis pupa are working VERY WELL!  We’re finding fish in just about every water type you want to fish.  It’s so good right now!!!

The dry fly game is not quite what it was, but has definitely has its moments.  The late afternoon and evening hours are the time to go.  It’s still very good, but you’ll have to hunt for them.    LOTS of Black Caddis and good numbers of Tan Caddis with the straggler PMD. No signs of Tricos yet (we’ve seen some way down river) but it’s coming.  A few hopper eaters out there as well….

The cold, low and clear water is a huge factor this year, so we’re expecting the fishing to keep rocking on.  I just want to give a big thanks to all our friends and guests who made it out this year!

If you’re thinking about visiting the Bighorn this season, you should probably get out here…
