Bighorn River Fishing Report 9/9
Fall is quickly approaching the Bighorn Valley. The mornings are cooler, making the morning fishing a bit slower, so don’t rush getting out on the water. The big crowds have let up a bit as the whole river is fishing well and pressure has dispersed. It appears as our Caddis are becoming a bit more sporadic and we’re still waiting on Tricos. We’re seeing some on the way lower river, but not significant numbers up higher yet…
Nymphing has been solid with Orange Scuds, Tailwater Sows, Carpet Bugs, PT’s, Hare’s Ears, Blowtorches, Duracells, and various small perdigons. The grass is around and still a bit of moss, so keep your bugs clean and you’ll be rewarded.
Streamer fishing is picking up, especially during those lower light periods. Stick to Jig Thin Mints, Pete’s Buggers, Rusty Trombones, Goldies and various articulated smaller patterns.
Our shop hours are changing a bit for the season. We are open 7 days a week from 7:30 AM to 6 PM.
