Mid Winter Bighorn River Report

IMG_1632

Still in full winter mode on the Bighorn, but you wouldn’t believe it with the amount of people and nice weather around.  Maybe consider staying away from the weekends if you want the Bighorn to yourself..  Waterfowl season just wrapped up (geese for another week) so that will take away some pressure as well.

This is not the time of year to come to the Bighorn and expect to catch lots of fish, but to take advantage the nice weather we are lucky to have right now.  Don’t be too rushed to get on the water in the AM.  Water temps are getting down there so look for small afternoon windows where water temps are peaking for the most success.

Small has been the key lately.  Carpet Bugs, Softhackle Sows and Rays (18-20) have been productive.  Zebras, larva, etc are all good trailing options.

Streamer fishing was pretty decent this past weekend as well. Black seemed to be the color of choice.  Dredge the centers of slow runs and you should connect with some fish.

WINTER RATES ON GUIDE TRIPS AND LODGING STILL AVAILABLE  UNTIL THE END OF FEBRUARY!
