Fall is slowly sneaking into the Bighorn valley as we near the end of our busy season. Fishing has been good, but certainly more ‘on and off’ days lately. Fishing is rolling along as we move into Fall. The dry fly bite is winding down a bit but subsurface fishing has been stellar! We’re nearing the end of Summer and the Bighorn continues to kick out some solid fishing. Water temps are reaching into the low 60’s, so please be careful handling fish and keep them wet!

What a great summer it’s been on the ‘Horn! Low, cold flows have provided us with tremendous hatches and the fish are in about as good of shape as we’ve seen in some time. We’re nearing the end of Summer but the warm weather is sticking around.

We had a recent cooldown in weather, which put the bugs off a bit, but that didn’t keep the fish from gorging underneath! The hatches kicked back into gear yesterday and fishing has been outstanding this Summer.
We’re still seeing localized hatches of PMD’s. Black Caddis are strong and we’re seeing good numbers of big Tan Caddis below 3 Mile. Read more...
Fishing has been HOT here on the Bighorn. PMD’s, Black Caddis and a few Tan Caddis are keeping the Bighorn fish interested up top and underneath. It’s been a bit busier than usual, so be considerate of other anglers out there!

It is fully game on! PMD’s and Caddis have exploded the past few days. Water temps remain in the low to upper 50’s (depending on the time of the day). Dries, Nymphs, Streamers, it’s about as good as Summer fishing gets right now! No hoot owl restrictions for us!

Bighorn River flows have dropped to 2500 CFS as of today. We should stay in this range for the rest of the Summer. This is a great thing! The water is cold and clear and setting up nicely for our Summer hatches.

It looks like Summer is officially here! Flows are currently at 4000 cfs and talk of dropping to 3500 is a probability. The river remains gin clear with some drifting moss below 3 Mile. The fishing has been very steady this past week and we are impressed with the size and quantity of big fish in the system! Read more...
