The Graveyard Midge was originated by our friend John Wood, who designed it specifically for Tailwater situations.  It has become the new ‘go to’ Midge pupa for guides and anglers on the Bighorn River.  The Bighorn can be tied in a multitude of color combinations and they all work!  We have the Graveyard Midge available to purchase on our online store as well, for those non-tyers.  Read more...

I guess Spring is here?..  The warm weather has brought folks out of the depths of winter and to the Bighorn.  A bit busy for this time of year on the weekends, but we’re not complaining!  Fishing has been pretty darn good if you’re in the right zones.  Many of the fish are found in their normal winter spots, although the water is a bit warmer than normal for this time of year.  Read more...

Between the wind and well, the wind, there’s been some small windows of opportunity on the Bighorn.  Those who have made it down have had good things to say.  Winter tailwater fishing at its’ finest right now.

Things are starting to look up on the Bighorn.  Water clarity has increased dramatically over the past 5 or 6 days.  There is some grass in the system, but not like it was a couple weeks ago.  Fishing seems to be picking up as well!

Not a whole lot of new things going on here.   The wind finally looks like it’s going to take a break.  This should be a good week to get out and fish!

Water visibility is still marginal, although we’ve lost a fair amount of the grass that was in the system.  Read more...

We just had one of our earliest and most extreme cold snaps for the late Fall season.  This is the true start of transition on the Bighorn and ultimately helps clean up the system.  That being said, the grass is making its way out, but definitely presents some obstacles in angling.  Read more...
