Looks like flows are scheduled to drop to 5500 CFS by Monday afternoon.  From that point, we’ll see, but should keep on the drop. Fishing has been very very good lately with lots of happy anglers out there!

The Baetis are starting to show up and some days we’re finding fish up in the afternoons and evenings.  Read more...

Fishing has been really good the past few days since flows have stabilized and water temps are up a bit.  It’s been busy, but it’s a big river and plenty of places to fish!

Nymphing has been stellar with big Sowbugs (Red Bead Carpet Bugs, Red Bead Rays, Cotton Candy, Pink Bead Carpet Bugs) the whole river.  Read more...

It’s go time on the Bighorn! Our Spring has kicked off and many anglers are enjoying the weather and fishing.  It’s been good overall, but definitely somewhat spotty.  The flows have been on the rise and projected to cap off around 6000 CFS this week.  The river is cold and clear and a bit of drifting moss below 3 Mile, but not too bad!  Read more...

Nymphing has been very productive, with sowbugs and midge pupae being the hot flies. Jellybeans, Cotton Candy, Carpet Bugs, Firebeads, Zebras, Green Weenies and various Perdigons are working most of the day. Read more...

The river is finally waking up and we’re seeing some excellent fishing!  The river is in fantastic shape and flows are right around 3000 cfs.  It was a busy weekend and expect the trend to continue!  We had some guide trips out this past week and they did very well and reported a lot of 16-20″ fish as the norm.  Read more...

The Bighorn River Transforms: Adapting to a Changing Current

The Bighorn River, Montana, has always been an approachable, consistent and easy to read river for most anglers. But sometimes a curveball is thrown, and the Bighorn has certainly been representative of that over the past few years. From dramatic water level fluctuations to earlier insect hatches, the river is demanding adaptation from even the most seasoned anglers. Read more...

We just had an arctic blast and looks like the weather will be with us for a bit.  The good news is the river has cleaned up and is back to great clarity and some grass on its way out.  The browns are in full spawn mode as well, so please be mindful of them! Read more...

Well things were starting to turn around last week with the water clearing a bit.  After the ferocious winds and varying weather patterns this past week, it looks like things have been stirred up making up for somewhat challenging fishing.  In other words, the fishing kind of sucks but there are fish to be caught…  We’re hoping that changes with the weather settling back to normal.
