It’s almost there folks! Water temps appear to be warming up just a bit more (high 40’s/low 50’s) as July keeps plugging along. We’re seeing fish starting to move up into some of the faster shelves and more of an abundance of PMD nymphs. There are a handful of PMD adults around and a good number of large Baetis as well. We’re getting closer, but water temps need to come up just a bit. Flows are still stable at 1750-1800 CFS and the river remains Gin clear with some drifting vegetables below 3 Mile. Keep your flies clean and the fish will eat them!
A couple of PMD’s around, but not the main push yet. Read more...
Things are heading in the right direction on the Bighorn. The majority of rainbows have moved off their redds and back into the main runs making for plenty of shots at big fish. River clarity is superb and water temps are still in the mid 40’s, but we are still having to fish through some moss, especially below 3 Mile. Read more...
Cold and low flows are still the name of the game on the Bighorn. It looks like we’ll be sitting at the 1750 CFS mark for quite some time. The good news is our river is staying clear and water temps in the mid 40’s. Still a fair amount of moss below 3 Mile, so keep your bugs clean! Read more...

Summer got here quick! Temps up in the mid 90’s this week should make things interesting… Despite the weather, the Bighorn remains cold, clear and low. We’re seeing a fair amount of drifting moss below 3 Mile, making for some tricky fishing down there, but if you keep your bugs clean, they’ll eat (that’s the theory at least). Read more...
Well, it looks like our dismal snowpack has caught up to us. As of 4 PM yesterday, Bighorn River flows are down at 1980 CFS. Low incoming flows to Bighorn Lake and no snow are the root of this. I can safely say we will NOT have high water this season. Read more...
Bighorn River flows have settled in @ 2500 CFS the past few days. Fishing remains pretty solid overall. Plenty of big ones still filling the nets and smaller fish as well! We are finally seeing the rainbows in full on spawn mode, so please be mindful of these fish and let them do their thing. Read more...
It’s been a solid past few days on the Bighorn as fishing has stabilized and has been very consistent, especially for large fish. Our guides are bringing in good numbers of fish as well. Water temps are still a bit cooler but this is great news for the upcoming Summer. Read more...
