The Bighorn River is currently in fantastic shape, with flows holding steady at a very manageable 1,500 CFS. Water clarity is excellent across the board, providing ideal conditions for anglers. You will encounter a bit of moss below the 3-Mile access point, but it is easily manageable and shouldn’t deter you from working those lower stretches.
BIGHORN RIVER REGIONAL UPDATE –
The Crow Tribe has instituted a great deal of confusion with a recent order indicating they intend to set up roadblocks to turn away non-residents and close the lake and river accesses.In spite of their directive, we have not seen the tribe attempt to interfere in any way with traffic coming down highway 313. Conditions on the Bighorn are prime right now for Summer fishing. PMD’s are still the main event and they are as thick as can be on most days. It’s a bit busier out there, but with the whole river fishing well, you can pick fish out of many spots.

Flows have been up and down on the Bighorn, and at this point, we are looking at the later. The river is scheduled to be at 2500 CFS by the next couple of days and should stay at that level throughout the remainder of the Summer season.

It looks like we are actually headed in the right direction! Flows are being decreased each day 500 CFS until we hit 7000 CFS Thursday afternoon. It’s put some of the fish off a bit, but there are plenty of more who seem happy to eat your bugs!

It appears as our flows are finally on the way down (9100 CFS as of last night). This should be the last of it, should be.. Fishing remains really consistent and will only continue to get better as the water comes down, which should be very soon.
