We’re just about there folks.  Increasing numbers of Baetis are abound and a few more fish are looking up.  Water temps are still cooler than normal for this time of year, but the fish are ready to transition into Spring mode.  Any day now!

Things have quieted down a bit this past week.  There are still a handful of folks around, but it will be ramping up here in about a week. Fishing remains solid, and right now is a matter of finding the fish vs. pattern selection.  We had a slight bump in water a few days back and water temps dropped just a bit, keeping our fish in the slower winter-like runs. Spring conditions have settled in here on the Bighorn. Lots of people are taking advantage of the great early season Spring fishing we have. Stay away from Friday-Sunday if you don’t like people! It finally got cold, we got a bunch of snow.  By far the largest snowfall amount we’ve seen this year, but doesn’t look like we’ll be dealing with that much longer.

The Winter crowds have slowed down, except on the warmer weekends.  We’re open everyday 8 AM till at least noon or so.   Read more...

Still in full winter mode on the Bighorn, but you wouldn’t believe it with the amount of people and nice weather around.  Maybe consider staying away from the weekends if you want the Bighorn to yourself..  Waterfowl season just wrapped up (geese for another week) so that will take away some pressure as well. We may be finally seeing a break in our “spring” weather, as temperatures are expected to reach into the high 50’s by the end of the weekend.   There has been an abnormal amount of snow around at low to mid levels.  Flows have bumped up into the mid 6000’s and are expected to keep rising as they are making room for incoming water from the Wyoming drainages.   Read more...
