It appears as fall is hanging around finally. We have a span of great weather ahead of us and people are finally coming back out to experience some great fishing the Bighorn has to offer.

We’re nearing the end of a great, but interesting season on the Bighorn and getting prepared for some excellent late Fall/early Winter fishing. Overall, it’s a ghost town out there most days but the fish are very willing to EAT!
Nymphing has really picked up and now is a good time to start sticking some of those big fish we have in the river this year as they are in peak shape. Read more...
Fishing is starting to pick up just a bit on the Bighorn. Low night temps have helped cool the water a bit and the fish seem to be a little more interested in eating. The crowds are down for the season and the weather is great!

The Bighorn trout continue to eat, despite the slightly off colored water and grass! The crowds have thinned out for the season and Fall weather is on the way.

As expected, August has been nothing short of great. Water levels are prime and the fish are in fantastic shape. The upper 3 has seen the most hatch activity, but also about 70% of the traffic. The fish are well spread out though and everyone is coming back from their days on the water pretty happy! Read more...
Flows are back up to 9500 CFS but the fish don’t seem to mind! We’re seeing good numbers of PMD’s and Sallies in the mid day and Black Caddis are starting to make an appearance in the evenings. There are finally a decent amount of fish up in side channels and softer edges. Read more...
Things are shaping up great for the Bighorn. Flows are on the drop again and water temps are still prime, but not getting too warm like last year. The river is scheduled to be at 8500 CFS by the end of today and should sit there for the weekend. We’re not sure what happens next, but as inflows to the lake drop, our section will drop as well. Bighorn River flows are just above 10K. This is obviously not what was expected, but runoff came late this year and with the Corps of Engineers taking over operation of the Yellowtail dam, it’s hard saying what their next move will be. The good news is our runoff is subsiding and we don’t expect flows to stay up at current levels for too long (maybe a couple weeks max). Read more...
It’s happening again! Flows are up to 6500 CFS after the deluge we received this past week and higher inflows in the top end of the lake. The good news is the river still looks great, water temps are on the climb and the fish are eating way better than they were. Read more...
