There is still some good fishing to be had on the Bighorn.  We knew this long spell of amazing fishing couldn’t last all year, so here it is –  Bighorn Lake has started to turn over resulting in ‘green’ conditions throughout the Bighorn.  It’s held off a lot longer than we thought, but it’s here and will be here until the nights really start cooling off.  Read more...

The Bighorn continues to provide very solid fishing as we move into September.  Flows are stable at 2400 cfs and clarity is pretty darn good.  Not like what we’ve seen in the past few years with the ‘green’ water.  The grass is growing in spots, mainly the Upper 3, but also provides us with the great amount of insects found out there right now.  Read more...

Ok, so there’s definitely some BS with a lot of fishing reports (I try not to), but not right now.  The Bighorn has been fishing pretty insane.  The amount of fish and size of fish just amazes us right now, and it just keeps going!

Pheasant tail season here.  Just about any PT version right now will get you fish all day long.  Read more...

The Bighorn is fishing pretty damn good out there folks.  Don’t need to take our word for it.  Had three clients over the last week come in and tell us it’s the best fishing they’ve ever had.  There’s good reason for that, a smorgasbord of food out there right now…Hoppers, PMDs, yellow sallies, and caddis. Conditions on the Bighorn are prime right now for Summer fishing.  PMD’s are still the main event and they are as thick as can be on most days.  It’s a bit busier out there, but with the whole river fishing well, you can pick fish out of many spots.

If you’re looking to hunt fish on the surface, plan on about 1 PM till dark.  Read more...

We’re currently experiencing some of the best PMD fishing we’ve seen in years on the Bighorn.  The fish are eating them with reckless abandon (a good presentation is still necessary) but it’s damn good!  Here is one of our favorite PMD nymphs ever that works across the West and is especially good on the Bighorn. It’s starting to happen!  The dry fly game is just about on.  PMD’s, Black and Tan Caddis are increasing in numbers, and finally, it’s that time.  It will only get better from here on out.

The Fish are looking as good as they have in years and there are some BIG ONES out there right now.  Read more...

Flows have been up and down on the Bighorn, and at this point, we are looking at the later.  The river is scheduled to be at 2500 CFS by the next couple of days and should stay at that level throughout the remainder of the Summer season.

The good news is the fishing has been really goodRead more...

The flow on the Bighorn has settled in at 4000 CFS.  The fish seem to be pretty happy about it and overall the fishing has really picked up.

It appears that the fish are not dialed in on the tiny (20 and 22) Midge and Baetis nymph patterns as much as they were, and are turning in favor towards bigger SowbugsRead more...

Water levels have come up just a bit the past few days to around 2350 CFS.  The increase in flows has helped out the fishing overall, but it’s not a gimme out there right now.  We still have a good majority of rainbows in the system finishing up the spawn.  Read more...
