Spring is finally here on the Bighorn.  It’s getting busier out there but the fishing has been very solid.  A bit more dry fly activity and great nymph fishing overall.

The Spring BWO’s are lingering around but haven’t really kicked off yet.  I’d say another 10-14 days, but who knows.  We just need water temps to jump a couple more degrees to the mid 40’s during the heat of the day and more bugs to get the fish looking at them.  Read more...

The Bighorn continues to kick out great fishing as we enter Spring.  A-3, 3-B, they’re all good sections to fish right now.  There are a few more people around on the weekends and pretty quiet on the weekdays, but overall plenty of room to fish!

Not a lot has changed pattern wise.  Read more...

It’s finally that time of year where we can get a pretty good read on how the Bighorn River will play out this year.  Judging by our analysis of current snowpack and water levels in other basins, we’re on track for a similar water setup as 2020 – Low, clear, cold water for most of the season.  Read more...

The Graveyard Midge was originated by our friend John Wood, who designed it specifically for Tailwater situations.  It has become the new ‘go to’ Midge pupa for guides and anglers on the Bighorn River.  The Bighorn can be tied in a multitude of color combinations and they all work!  We have the Graveyard Midge available to purchase on our online store as well, for those non-tyers.  Read more...

I guess Spring is here?..  The warm weather has brought folks out of the depths of winter and to the Bighorn.  A bit busy for this time of year on the weekends, but we’re not complaining!  Fishing has been pretty darn good if you’re in the right zones.  Many of the fish are found in their normal winter spots, although the water is a bit warmer than normal for this time of year.  Read more...

Between the wind and well, the wind, there’s been some small windows of opportunity on the Bighorn.  Those who have made it down have had good things to say.  Winter tailwater fishing at its’ finest right now.

Bighorn fish are eating well the entire span of the river, mainly subsurfaceRead more...

If you can brave the temps right now, it’s worth coming down!  The fishing this early winter has been excellent with a variety of fish from 12-24″  in the river and most importantly, they are willing to eat!

Water temps are in that high 30’s zone, so all the standard winter spots are producing.  Read more...

A little delay in fishing reports, but nothing too exciting and new to report.  The river is in prime shape as far as clarity and lack of vegetation.  We don’t often get long warm weather windows like this and surprised it hasn’t been busier than it is.  A handful of guys out there trying to shoot end of the season ducks, but not a whole lot of fishing pressure right now. What a nice Winter it has been so far!  No cold fronts in sight for a while, so this a great window to come fish the Bighorn.  The river continues to clear, both visibility and grass, each week.  There’s still some grass on the Upper 3, but below that it’s VERY clean.  Read more...
